6 mistakes homebuyers make when buying a home

By eymer • May 1st, 2010

1 – Know your credit score – The lower your score, the more it will cost to borrow money from the bank.

2 – Buy a car before you buy a house – Purchasing a car or other big ticket item can affect your credit score.

3 – Skimping on a home inspection – Never buy a home without a home inspection! You want to know what kind of costs you may be facing.

4 – Not hiring an attorney – Hiring an attorney to make sure your interests are protected is always a good idea.

5 – No contingencies – As a buyer you always want to keep your options open in case costs of repairs exceed more than you can afford.

6 – Not budgeting for insurance – You should know how much and what kind of coverage you may need.  It is also a good idea to find out what is not covered.
